The #1 Thing You Can Do to Look Younger

by | Apr 27, 2024

We’ve all heard that 60 is the new 40 and Harrah Brown is living proof. At age 65 you might think Harrah would be baking cookies for the grandkids instead of blowing up social media with her tips on staying youthful, looking beautiful at any age and living your best life always.

Harrah, who will dish even more secrets about making the second half of your life even better than the first during her Secrets of the Empowered Woman Retreat in Punta Cana on Sept. 19-22, 2024 recently lit up Tik Tok with her number one tip to looking decades younger. “I practice the 90/10 rule,” she confided. “I eat 90 percent nutrient-dense food at home and 10 percent fun foods when going out.”

Harrah credits this simple strategy for helping her lose weight in her 60s, including the belly fat gained during menopause. And when she supercharged this by starting to work out at age 61 the pounds and years fell off.

What are nutrient-dense foods?
Ok. So what foods should you fill your cart up with during your next run to the grocery store? Nutrient-dense foods are chocked full of vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats and can be complex carbs or lean proteins. Here are five of the secret ingredients Harrah uses to supercharge her beauty and wellness. Salmon and Sardines Fish is a great source of lean protein, but it’s important to pick the right sustainably sourced seafood to get the benefits. High in omega-3 fatty acids, salmon is one of the best. Every cell in your body needs omega-3 and salmon has some of the highest concentrations of this essential nutrient.

Harrah eats fish twice a week and sardines are a great additional choice because these small, oily fish contain a little of everything your body needs. Shellfish are also a good option. Berries Berries are one of the best superfoods. These small delicious treats are full of antioxidants. Blueberries especially contain properties thought to help with mood, and cognition, inhibit cancer cells and counter the effects of low estrogen. Aim to eat a cup a day.

Olive Oil
The backbone of the popular Mediterranean diet, olive oil was recently shown to help blast belly fat. It’s also known to improve heart health and contribute to longevity.

Greens
Leafy greens are a low-calorie food packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and other compounds that contribute to healthy aging. Kale is one of the most nutrient-dense greens you can purchase, but don’t discount all types including chard, romaine, spinach, and arugula. Enjoy in salads and smoothies.

Garlic
Punch up the flavor of your food with this potent vegetable. It’s shown to reduce blood pressure and lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and raise good (HDL) cholesterol.
